Portola Festival at Pier 80 welcomes all people with disabilities. We are dedicated to continually improving our efforts to ensure attendees have access to all festival goods and services, regardless of ability.
It is not acceptable to fake or exaggerate a disability to gain access to disability accommodations. Our ADA department has finite resources and needs to focus these resources on helping those who legitimately require assistance.
There will be an Accessibility Services Hub conveniently located inside the festival grounds to support and address the needs of all attendees with accessibility needs. This location will be labeled on the guest facing map when released. There is no ADA pre-registration before the event - this is all done onsite at the event.
At the Accessibility Services Hub, you can:
Disabled attendees wishing to utilize some of the accessibility services at Portola Festival will be required to wear an ADA Wristband. This wristband is acquired onsite at our Accessibility Services location. There is not an “ADA ticket” that needs to be purchased in order to utilize accessibility services at Portola Festival.
If a disabled attendee wants to switch their companion, a new ADA Companion Wristband can be exchanged by bringing the old companion wristband back to the Accessibility Services Hub to be reissued.
We encourage patrons with mobility disabilities to utilize personal forms of transportation, including wheelchairs and scooters. Crutches, walkers and canes are also permitted. Please note that we will not be renting assisted mobility devices onsite.
ACCESSIBLE ROUTES
The Venue is navigable for people with mobility disabilities. The event is held on primarily cement terrain. Guests will need to traverse throughout the festival grounds between stages independently or with the assistance of a companion as the festival does not provide transportation between stages. If you need assistance finding your most accessible route around the event, please visit us at the Accessibility Services Hub.
CHARGING
If you need to recharge your motorized wheelchair or other medical equipment, you may do so at the Accessibility Services Hub.
THERE IS NO FESTIVAL PARKING AVAILABLE AT PIER 80. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE TO THE EVENT. Cut back on emissions and consider alternative modes of transportation such as accessible rideshare or the ADA Shuttle service for those commuting on BART from the 24 St. Mission BART Station.
Leave your car at home and use rideshare. Our designated ADA pick up / drop off zone for rideshare is located at the intersection of Tennessee St. and Cesar Chavez St. Once you are dropped off in this zone, continue East down Cesar Chavez St. for approximately two blocks, where you will arrive at the Cesar Chavez St. Entrance to the festival venue.
This designated ADA rideshare pick up / drop off zone is different from the North and South Rideshare Pickup locations on the festival map. Learn more about those on our Getting Here page.
Take the BART to 24th St. Mission BART Station and hop on a free ADA shuttle to Portola. We have a limited number of ADA shuttles (wheelchair accessible) operating along this route. The ADA shuttles will touch down at the same location as all other shuttles adjacent to the 24th St. Mission BART Station. At the Pier 80 shuttle stop, the ADA shuttles will pick up / drop off along Cesar Chavez St. just North and slightly East of the Cesar Chavez St. Entrance.
ADA shuttles will run on a loop between Pier 80 and 24th St. Mission BART Station from 12:30pm - 11:30pm.
Use the Trip Planner to figure out your route and schedule.
Avoid the lines and pay your BART/Muni fare ahead of time. Get a digital Clipper card. You can pay with Google or Apple Pay to load fare onto your Clipper card and direct into your mobile wallet. Don’t wait until the last minute!
For additional info about the ADA shuttles, please send us an email and/or inquire with a member of the Accessibility Team onsite.
There will be an ADA entry lane located at the main entrance, which will be labeled with signage. Disabled guests may use this lane to safely enter the venue. After using the ADA entry, please visit the Accessibility Services Hub immediately to inquire of further accessible services provided at the event.
There will be accessible viewing areas made available to ADA patrons and their one (1) companion at designated stages. For information on how to gain access to these areas, please visit us at the Accessibility Services Hub.
